Dear Fellow Rotarians in District 7780,

The Rotary Foundation has established a single fund to support Rotarians in their relief efforts for the devastation left by Hurricane Harvey in Houston and other parts of the Gulf Coast. It's called the Gulf Coast Disaster Relief donor advised fund (DAF).

This DAF has been established by Past RI Director Greg Podd and President-Elect Barry Rassin in consultation with the District Governors of the Gulf region, through The Rotary Foundation.  The fund is collecting relief contributions; Don and Greg are working with leaders from the affected districts to create a process for disbursing DAF funds to their respective district foundations or local 501c3 organizations to support local relief efforts.

I've just made an online donation to this DAF - it's easy to do.  Will you please consider joining me?

Updated information about contributing to the Gulf Coast DAF is available on the Rotary website. Club Presidents in particular, save this link: this page will continue to be updated as needed.  You can send a check, or you can make a credit card donation from a link on this web page: just specify that it is for the "Gulf Coast Disaster Relief Fund" account #608.

With the devastating effects of Hurricane Harvey in the greater Houston area, and across Texas and Louisiana, we are called to do what we can to assist our Rotary family and their communities. Please consider donating to Disaster Aid USA, ShelterBox or another organization already at work in Texas, in any amount. If all 40 of our clubs contributed $100 each, we could provide a big impact. If our clubs would match up to $100 worth of member contributions, the impact would be doubled. Let’s show our family in Texas and Louisiana how much we support them during this tragedy. It’s more than money: the knowledge that we are there in spirit is powerful.

Disaster Aid USA is a non-profit organization founded by Rotarians, and it focuses on recovery from disasters world-wide. Funds are an immediate need, as the Disaster Aid USA team will be busy cleaning up houses, clearing debris and beginning the rebuilding process. Please visit the Disaster Aid USA website for more information: http://www.disasteraidusa.com.

Shelterbox is already sending emergency kits and privacy tents for displaced citizens. http://www.shelterbox.org.
