Shelter Box is a project that was started by a club in the UK that saves lives after a natural or manmade disaster by delivering supplies of aid to those who need it most.

Each green ShelterBox contains everything needed for an extended family to survive in the first days after a disaster. Each ShelterBox is tailored to the specific disaster but typically contains a relief tent for an extended family, blankets, water storage and purification equipment, cooking utensils, a stove, a basic tool kit, a children’s activity pack and other vital items.

ShelterBox has grown rapidly since its inception in 2000, providing emergency relief on every continent for the people who need it most.

ShelterBox responds to all disasters where there are families in need of emergency shelter. ShelterBox asks for the help of all Rotarians to be ready to respond when the next disaster hits. ShelterBox is constantly working to increase our capacity to store and distribute ShelterBoxes so when the next catastrophic disaster happens, it can respond instantly with large consignments of aid.
The ShelterBox Disaster Fund has been established to facilitate this and allow support of the thousands of families who will need the help when the next disaster occurs.
