Wrap-a-Smile, which now involves Rotarians from across North America, started here in District 7780!

Wells Rotarian Terri Hodskins was first introduced to Rotaplast, the organization that does cleft lip/cleft palate repairs in developing nations, in 2001.  When Terri learned that the patients were wrapped and sent home in paper blankets, she realized that she and her quilting guild could do better. Soon Terry was receiving comfort quilts, made with love, from all over the country.

Today, over 24,500 quilts have been made by Wrap-a-Smile quilters,  which means 24,500 small lives have been improved not only by the Rotary sponsored surgeries, but by the clean, brightly colored quilts that the children take home with them after surgery.

Wrap-A-Smile is now being managed by Dr. Ann Demeranville of the Boothbay Harbor, Maine club, with District-wide support. For more information on Rotaplast, go to http://www.rotaplast.org.  To volunteer to help with the quilting project, contact Ann at quilts7780@gmail.com
