The 2023 Nominating Committee of Rotrary District 7780 announced on November 12 that their DGND (District Governor Nominee Designate) selection is Michele Gilbody from the Freeport Rotary Club. Michele will be our District Governor in the 2026-27 Rotary year.

Michele joined Rotary in 2009 and has worn many hats at both Club and District levels. She has been President of her club twice, Membership Chair, Treasurer, and Fundraising Chair, among others. She has also coordinated small and large community events.  For District 7780, Michele has assisted several past District Governors in filling committee and leadership positions, she is a past and current District Trainer, and she has served for several  years on the District Visioning Team. Michele has also led many sessions at NE-PETS and RLI.  She is currently a board member and Treasurer of BELRAG (Basic Education and Literacy Rotary Action Group).
 
Michele lives in Freeport with her husband of 36 years, Dave. She is mother of two daughters, and grandmother to 5, with a sixth one due soon!  She had a long career in education, first as an elementary school teacher for 17 years.  After receiving her MS in Educational Leadership, she was Founding Director of Cricket Hunt School for 23 years. She currently works for Wilbur's of Maine Chocolate Conventions as Company Sales Coordinator for wholesale and corporate sales.
