District Governor's Message   Claudia Frost District Governor 2022-2021 Brunswick Rotary Club July 2022   "Are you excited? What are your goals? Are you ready?” All excellent questions. But not as good a question as “Is it the truth?” If I answer those first questions differently every time, what is the truth?    As Rotarians, we take pride and a certain seriousness in our Four Way Test. Of the four questions, I find the “Is it the truth?” statement the most difficult. You and I have different truths. What is true for me today, may not be the truth tomorrow. I have a little trick that helps me. I think: “Is it kind?” after “Is it the truth?” Kindness counts. I believe it is important to search for the truth and to be honest, but to temper it with being kind, as it can take the sting out of the ‘truth.’    Truthfully, I am excited and ready to pursue my goals for the year. You are all a part of my overall goal. As I sputtered to Bill about articulating my goals for the year, I burst out: “I feel good about being a Rotarian and I want each Rotarian to feel good about being a Rotarian. That’s my goal!” I’m sticking with that! I will do whatever I can to make this a great Rotary Year for all of you.   I am extremely grateful to all who stepped up to a position of leadership this year. If you think I am not talking about you, I encourage you to raise your hand. Say yes to a club committee, or a club leadership track. The legacy of District 7780 is teamwork, transparency, and doing good.    Live in peace, be kind and keep in touch!   Claudia Frost In Memorium Frank G. Helman, Boothbay Harbor RC   Frank G. Helman, of Boothbay Harbor, died at home Thursday, June 2, with his beloved wife of 32 years, Martha (Peak) Helman, at his side. He was 92 years old. Frank was an active member of the Rotary Club of Boothbay Harbor, which named him “Rotarian of the Year” in 2006.  Generous personal donors for many years, under the leadership of Frank and later Martha, the Walter Foundation made history in 2021 by inking an agreement with The Rotary Foundation to fully fund a Rotary Peace Center in the Middle East/North Africa Region.   Read more... Williams District 7780 Historian since 2012 District 7780 Governor 1997-98 & 2006-07 Kittery RC   We want to let those that did not attend the District Conference to have the opportunity to see that their Rotary friends are not forgotten when they pass away.  The 2021 – 2022 District 7780 Conference Memorial Slides Presentation of all Deceased Rotarians for this past Rotary year and several previous year(s) that were just reported to me this spring are posted to the District Website.  To review and print any of these slides, click here.   It has been my honor to do these slides for the District Conference Memorial Service for a number of years and the last three years are now on the District Website for all Rotarians to see and remember our deceased Rotarian Friends. District Membership Committee Update The Committee is most pleased to announce the newest addition to our district Membership Recruitment tools: a 10x10 Rotary Membership Awareness Canopy.   Specifically designed for outdoor venues as an eye-catching booth to create awareness and promote conversation, the canopy came about as a result of collaboration between Yarmouth and Freeport Rotary Clubs and the district.   The canopy is available for rent, only $150 per event.  Arrangements through Peter Johnson, Yarmouth Rotary, 207-232-4839.
