The Rotary Club of Durham-Great Bay, NH

A Brief History

In June of 1986, with the blessing of the Rotary Club of Dover-Durham, Bill Skinner and Chris Hascall set out to establish a breakfast club for an area which would include Durham, Lee, Madbury and Newmarket.  Around a nucleus of Dover-Durham members, they grew to twenty-two, sufficient to petition District Governor Joe Hahn to seek a Rotary International charter for a club calling itself Durham-Great Bay.

The charter was signed in Evanston on December 2, 1986 and presented by the District Governor at Charter Night on January 24, 1987.  Twenty-six other clubs attended to welcome the new club into the district.

Membership has grown over the years and the club has become a microcosm of the community it serves.

Thirty presidents have led the club.  One charter member has served as District 7780 Governor.
