By:  Aileen Dugan, Chair, District Vision Committee, RC of Portsmouth

If you’re wondering what happened to Club Visioning, this is the update you’ve been waiting for!

Our District 7780 Vision Committee was largely sidelined during the pandemic and unable to continue their in-person Club Visioning activity.   “Visioning” is the process by which Rotary International and our local Rotary clubs identify areas of focus for their clubs, address new initiatives as well as stumbling points, and create long-term strategic plans.   Our District Vision Committee members are trained to facilitate this process through Rotary International as well as District hosted training and mentoring.

The facilitator does not create the solutions or plans.  The club creates its own path forward that is unique to them.  The team helps walk the club members through specific steps that we share with club leadership in advance.  We facilitate conversations that are helpful to identify areas of strength as well as concern.  Members choose the most important areas and agree on the next steps.

Aileen Dugan, Past President of the Portsmouth Rotary Club, has taken over as Chair of the District Vision Committee from Past District Governor Dick Hall, who will remain as an advisor and trainer.  Other leadership includes Michelle Bois-Gilbody, who is a multi-year District Trainer and Past President of Freeport RC, and Tony Wagner, multi-year Past President of the Vision Committee and Past President SPCE RC.

If you were a facilitator before Covid struck and would like to rejoin our ranks, we’d love to have you!  Please email Chair Aileen Dugan. We are planning to have a training session for new members of the committee in early December.  Once we have assembled our new team, we will begin meeting with District 7780 Clubs in person in 2023.

If you want to learn more, either for your club or to volunteer to join our team, feel free to reach out to Aileen via email or at 603-502-4005, or contact Tony here.
