Kathryn Williams, Immediate Past President, Scarborough RC
By: Katelyn Pierson, President, Scarborough RC

Every Rotarian is an agent of change, looking to make the world a better place by living our common value of ‘Service Above Self.’ Scarborough Rotary would like to highlight the positive impact that Kathryn Williams, Immediate Past-President, has had as she completes her third year of service with our club.
Kathryn officially joined Scarborough Rotary Club in the spring of 2021 and brought with her abundant energy and drive to accomplish things. She immediately stepped in the vice president role which may seem quick, but Kathryn came with a Rotary resume. She was a member of the Rotary Club of Ottawa from 1995 to 2013, but like many Rotarians, her work took her away from Rotary for a few years. But we all know that once a Rotarian always a Rotarian.
The past three years Kathryn has spearheaded and encouraged the Scarborough Club to applying for a District Grant. After completing the project, she began preparation with other club members to apply for another one. She set the goal of increasing membership and successfully executed that goal. John Murphy, long time Scarborough Rotarian is known for saying, “If you want something done, ask a Rotarian to do it.” Kathryn embodies this spirit.
As she handed over the gavel, she announced that her contributions to the Rotary Foundation have brought her to a Paul Harris Level Two. Her first Paul Harris was awarded to her for her work with the Ottawa Rotary Club. Kathyrn is inspired to keep the Rotary Foundation thriving, so all future Rotarians can make a positive impact on the world. She encouraged the club to see the value in giving not only locally to our projects and communities, but to our global Rotary community as well.
We are blessed in Scarborough to have such a great leader and value the relationships that have been built. We continue to grow, inspire, and live the value of Service Above Self. Thank you, Kathryn. And, thank you to all the immediate past presidents.
