The District 7780 Philippines Outreach Team continues to share its story with clubs across the district, and we’re thrilled to report major progress on two literacy‑centered school projects.
Paraiso Elementary School’s new Learning Center/Library is now complete. Thanks to district support—especially from the Portland Rotary Club, championed by Dick Hall—the original structure was expanded to hold a full class of 30 students. The space now includes educational TV, bookshelves, tables, chairs, air‑conditioning, and newly installed windows and a door. Careful budgeting, along with donated books from Envision Philippines, kept Rotary’s total cost under $3,000.
An additional $3,000 will support upgrades at Atioc Dela Paz Elementary School, where monsoon damage left the learning hub and clinic with roof leaks, ruined books, and damaged shelving. Planned improvements include roof and ceiling repairs, an air‑conditioning unit to protect materials, and a proper bed for the clinic. A second phase will transform the outdoor area into a multi‑use ball court and playground—funded through commitments from the Outreach Team’s home clubs: Bridgton‑Lake Region, Portland, and Saco Bay.
Both projects are being supported in the Philippines by the Rotary Club of Central Tarlac.
Monsoon damage across the region has created additional needs, and more requests for support are coming in. In addition, a Global Grant request will be forthcoming which will support upgrades to a vocational training center. More about all this down the line.
Two schools, two libraries, and a growing impact — all made possible through the Outreach Program of District 7780 which generates partnerships around the globe and gives district clubs the chance to participate generously.
