Bob MacKenzie, Past-President of the Kennebunk Rotary Club, Chair of the District 7780 Recovery Initiative and Chief of Police at the Kennebunk Police Department would like to schedule a time to be your speaker. Chief MacKenzie’s passion is fighting the opioid epidemic and substance use disorder. Prior to the pandemic Chief MacKenzie had spoken at over 35 clubs throughout the district and beyond with a call for Rotarians to save lives and be part of the solution by offering education, reducing stigma and offering training on Narcan, the drug that reverses the effects of an opioid overdose
Chief MacKenzie has renewed his call to action as COVID has not only taken its own death toll, but has also contributed to over 93,000 deaths nationwide from overdoses in 2020.
Chief MacKenzie recently spoke in front of Congress by the request of Senator Susan Collins and Senator Bernie Sanders with regard to his efforts in combating the opioid epidemic. Senator Collins referred to much of the work that he’s been doing in Rotary and closed by asking Chief MacKenzie to keep doing what he’s doing.
