RYLA 2024 – A Unique Growth Opportunity
By: Emily Rumble & Sam Klemarczyk, Co-Directors RYLA District 7780, Portland RC

Hello RYLA Coordinators, RYLA Enthusiasts, and RYLA Supporters,
Thank you to all who attended our RYLA Coordinator Summit this past fall. It was a great success. We were able to talk about all the cool things happening at RYLA this year, including honoring RYLA Coordinators who go above-and-beyond with a RYLA Coordinator Award. This year, we honored Kathi Perkins for all she does to support the RYLA program and the campers who attend. And a huge thank you to everyone who attended!
At the Summit, you all walked away with updated RYLA Coordinator Playbooks, posters, and brochures. Hopefully, you have given these to the schools you sponsor to get the ball rolling for the application season. If not, please do so soon to build momentum! And remember that you have the Playbook as a helpful resource for all your questions, as well as our RYLA team to lean on if you need help recruiting. We have attached the digital copy of the playbook, as well as the slide deck from our first RYLA Coordinator meeting. We will be scheduling future RYLA Coordinator meetings in the next few months for check-ins and help sessions: be on the lookout for invites.
The RYLA website is officially all updated and live for the RYLA 2024 season. On the website, you'll find the updated application with clearer language and formatting, as well as the marketing video we debuted at the Summit. You will also find a new staff article, "A Unique RYLA Journey," by Zoë Brush, a 3rd year staff member, which is beautifully written and could be helpful in recruiting campers! It's also a great read to understand and revisit the impact of your RYLA Coordinator role in getting kids to camp.
Application season is "open" for students as of January 2nd! We are very excited for RYLA 2024, and it's only possible because of people like you!! Happy RYLA Application Season!
Yours in Service,
Emily Rumble & Sam Klemarczyk
