Marie was born and brought up in Maine and is a graduate of Brunswick High School.  She worked in banking for almost 30 years, retiring as Assistant Treasurer - Financial Recordkeeping Administrator for Kennebunk Savings Bank in 2003.  Marie has been involved in the American Institute of Banking as a student, instructor and representative/consul in both the Maine and New Hampshire chapters.  She has earned four banking diplomas through the American Institute of Banking.  In 1963, she married her high school sweetheart, Bruce Williams.  Bruce retired as the Assistant Fire Chief of the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard after 32 years of service.  He is a Paul Harris Fellow, Benefactor and Major Donor.  They are the proud parents of three grown children - Sally, Mary and David - and have four grandsons – Christopher, Zachery, Jonathan and Cameron plus one granddaughter - Zoey.  They enjoy their family, traveling and country music.

Marie became a Rotarian in 1987 as a charter member of the Rotary Club of Kittery, ME and was president in 1990-91.  She has served on numerous committees for both the District and her club. She served as District Governor for District 7780 in 1997-98.  District 7780 awarded her The Rotary Foundation District Service Award in 1992-93, 1995-96 and 1999-2000.  She has served as a facilitator and a sergeant-at-arms at the Northeast Multi-District PETS.  At the Zone 31 - 32 level, Marie has been very active.  She has been an instructor, a member of the Registration & Welcoming Committee, a panelist and a mentor.  Marie and Bruce managed the office for the Rotary Leadership Forum and Rotary Institute; she coordinated the Task Force Breakfasts for RI President Frank Devlyn’s 20 different Task Forces. She has coordinated the Memorial Service, the Reunion Dinner and the Saturday evening Banquet.  She has been a Zone 31 Coordinator for the many different task forces for past Rotary International Presidents. Marie and Bruce represented RI President Frank Devlyn in District 5960 in 2001.  Marie has been on the faculty of RLI since 2000 and was District 7780 RLI Chair from July 2005 until August 2006.  She is currently the Zone 31-32 Treasurer.  She has served as treasurer of her Rotary Club since 1998.  She is District 7780 Trainer for 2006-07 & 2007-08. Marie is a Multiple Paul Harris Fellow, Benefactor and Major Donor.
