Three Rotary Clubs Come Together for UNE Rotaract Dinner
By: Carol Marcotte, PhD, Co-Chair, District 7780 Rotaract Clubs, Saco Bay Sunset RC

On October 18th Rotarians from the Biddeford Saco, Saco Bay, and Saco Bay Sunset Rotary Clubs met with the University of New England (UNE) Rotaract Club to discuss the Rotaract goals for the 2024-2025 year. After cordial introductions, the UNE Rotaract Board members shared their enthusiasm for being part of Rotary and for the 23 people in attendance at the dinner. In addition they shared their club’s goals for 2024-25.
After some Fellowship time, President Harshil Patel and Vice President Brayden Wesler presented the club goals which included a Polio Plus event, making blankets for the homeless, other community service projects, and an itinerary and fundraising for the March 2025 Poland trip.

Fellow Rotarians and District Governor Bob MacKensie, who attended the dinner, provided suggestions, recommendations and thoughtful comments after the presentation. The evening resulted in engaging, thoughtful and reflective conversations about Service Above Self.
As a follow up, Mateo Mateo Karczmarczuk from the Rotary Club of Lublin Centrum and a former District Governor in Poland provided a letter of support explaining the connection with the UNE Rotaract trip and his club’s international Rotary fellowship aspect. The ARK project and meetings with other Rotaract Clubs will be an opportunity to learn about Poland’s culture and also engage in Service Above Self projects with other Rotaractors.

It was a rich collaborative experience!
Keep up the awesome leadership roles that focus on our 4-Way test, UNE Rotaractors! For more information, questions or comments, contact Carol at cmarcotte@une.edu.
